17H8764L is a small caliper seal fitted in the caliper piston bore of a front disc brake caliper. Fitted around the piston, this rubber seal forms the hydraulic piston-to-caliper seal, preventing brake fluid leaking past the piston and maintaining hydraulic pressure during brake application. Replace the seal if the rubber shows signs of swelling, cracking, scoring or hardening, or whenever a caliper piston is rebuilt or serviced. Common fitment covers older Land Rover front disc brake calipers used on Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic models within the VIN ranges shown below.
