4536848 is a timing chain guide for 4.2-litre supercharged and 4.4-litre AJ V8 engines. Fitted to the lower timing gear, the guide locates and supports the lower timing chain on AJ-V8 petrol engines and provides a wear-resistant running surface and positional control to maintain correct chain routing where the chain meets sprockets, tensioners and other guides. Excessive wear or grooving will allow chain slack, which can produce audible chain noise and accelerate wear to sprockets and tensioners; replace the guide when wear, grooves or damage are evident, or as part of a timing-chain service where associated components show wear.
