4537646 is a Cylinder Head Cover fitted to the cylinder head of the Cologne 4.0 V6 petrol engine SOHC. It forms a sealed enclosure over the camshaft and valve train and provides the seating face for the head gasket area. The cover protects the camshaft, rocker gear and valve springs from contamination while retaining engine oil for lubrication around the valve train. On the Cologne 4.0 V6 SOHC fitted to Discovery 3 models, the cover also provides mounting points for ignition coils and breathers where applicable and presents an access surface for routine inspection and service work.
