611659L is a rocker shaft for V8 cylinder heads. Fitted to 3.5L, 4.0L and 4.6L V8 twin-carb and fuel-injected petrol engines up to 2004, the hardened shaft mounts across the cylinder head and supports the rocker arms, providing the pivot and bearing surface that transfers camshaft motion into valve movement. Where the shaft is worn, scored or has excessive endplay it will alter rocker geometry, leading to increased valve lash, noise and accelerated wear to rocker bores, pushrods and valve stems; renewing a worn shaft during cylinder head or valvetrain work restores correct rocker alignment and reduces the risk of premature valve-gear failure.
