This steering tie bar tube cross rod eye end fits the right-hand-drive steering assembly on Defender models and pairs with the mating tie rod end RTC5869 on the opposite end. Fitted to the outer end of the steering tie bar tube, the eye end provides a pivoting joint that transfers steering input through the tie bar to the steering arms. Progressive wear or a failed seal can introduce free play and affect straight-line tracking; replacement restores rigidity at that connection and should be carried out alongside inspection of the opposite tie rod end and the tie bar tube for wear or damage.
