BTR8505 is an air conditioning compressor for R134a systems. Fitted to the 2.5L 300Tdi Defender, the unit mounts to the engine front accessory drive and is belt-driven from the crankshaft. It compresses and circulates R134a refrigerant, raising refrigerant pressure and delivering high-pressure vapour to the condenser so the evaporator can produce cooled air for the cabin. The compressor includes internal porting and a clutch interface compatible with R134a service practice; routine service items include correct refrigerant charge level, use of oil compatible with R134a and correct clutch engagement - incorrect refrigerant or mixing refrigerants can cause premature mechanical failure.
Please note: Charge only with R134a refrigerant; charging with R12 Freon will likely cause premature failure. Do not mix R134a and R1234yf.
