ERR1117 is an engine oil pump assembly for 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines produced before the 200Tdi. Fitted to the lubrication system of 2.25L petrol and 2.5L diesel 4-cylinder engines, the assembly draws oil from the sump and delivers it under pressure into the engine lubrication circuit to supply bearings, camshafts, valve gear and other moving components.

The ERR1117 engine oil pump assembly supplies pressurised oil from the sump into the engine's lubrication system on 4-cylinder Defender engines, feeding the main and auxiliary oil galleries so bearings, camshafts and valve gear receive continuous lubrication and cooling. If internal wear or leakage reduces delivery, the pump will no longer maintain correct circuit pressure and replacement is required to restore normal oil flow.
