ERR1178 is an oil pump assembly for the 2.5L 200Tdi engine. The pump supplies and maintains pressurised engine oil for the lubrication system, drawing oil from the sump and delivering it through the filter and delivery galleries to bearings, camshafts and other moving parts that require continuous lubrication and oil pressure. The assembly interfaces with the engine's oil galleries, the oil filter housing and the drive at the front of the engine; it is a serviceable component and should be fitted with clean mating surfaces and oil passages, with oil and filter renewed according to workshop guidance for 200Tdi engines.
