ERR4708 is an automatic auxiliary drive belt tensioner fitted to the auxiliary drive belt system that operates the water pump fan on 300Tdi engines. The unit maintains correct belt tension to ensure reliable fan and water pump operation on the 300Tdi application.
Please note: Replace the drive belt when fitting a new tensioner. Very early 300Tdi engines use belt ERR3287; most 300Tdi engines use belt ERR5911.

Inspect the tensioner at scheduled services and replace it if the bearing runs rough, there is excessive play, or the pulley shows visible damage. Also replace the auxiliary drive belt when fitting a new tensioner - early 300Tdi engines use ERR3287; most use ERR5911.
