Land Rover Part Number: ERR5250 - Camshaft - 4.6 V8
ERR5250 is a camshaft for the 4.6 litre V8 EFI engine. Fitted to the cylinder head, this machined shaft converts crankshaft rotation into the valve motion that controls inlet and exhaust timing - the cam lobes set valve lift and timing while the shaft journals locate and support the cam within the head. Wear or damage to lobes, journals or the drive key will alter valve timing and lift and can affect combustion and engine running; correct alignment of timing marks and secure mounting during removal and installation are required to restore proper valve timing. Worn timing chain components and the cam sprocket can cause timing error, so replacing the chain, sprocket and key at the same time reduces the risk of premature mis-timing after camshaft replacement.
Please note: When replacing the camshaft replace the camshaft timing chain ERC7929; for a replacement camshaft sprocket use ERR7375 and for a new camshaft key use ERR2609.
