Frequently Asked Questions
The ETC7128 camshaft controls valve timing and lift for 4-cylinder Land Rover engines up to and including the 200Tdi by converting crankshaft rotation into linear motion at the valve followers or rocker arms. Common failure modes include lobe wear, scoring or pitting which reduce valve lift and can cause loss of power, noisy valve train or poor running; replacement is typically performed during an engine strip or rebuild. When fitting, ensure correct timing alignment and valve train geometry; the woodruff key is not supplied with this part and must be obtained separately.

Replace the ETC7128 camshaft if lobe wear, scoring, pitting or incorrect cam timing is detected; this is normally undertaken as part of an engine strip and rebuild. Inspect the camshaft and valve train during major services or if symptoms such as loss of power, noisy valve train or misfiring occur, and consult a workshop manual or technician to confirm replacement.
