FRC5235 is a 5th Gear Synchroniser Plate. Fitted inside the casing of 5-speed manual gearboxes, this plate locates and supports the fifth-gear synchroniser assembly on the transmission mainshaft, keeping synchroniser components aligned with the mainshaft gear set so the synchroniser can match gear speeds during engagement and reduce wear on synchroniser rings and mainshaft teeth by maintaining correct axial and radial position under load. It is used when servicing or rebuilding mainshaft gears and synchroniser units in Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic 5-speed transmissions.
