Land Rover Part Number: FRC6685 - Clutch Drive Plate
FRC6685 is a clutch drive plate fitted to manual V8 Twin Carb L/R Petrol Range Rover Classic models. Mounted between the engine flywheel and the pressure plate, it transfers engine torque to the gearbox via friction facings on both faces; the plate is splined to the gearbox input shaft to allow axial movement during engagement and disengagement, and internal torsion springs damp driveline shock and reduce transmission of engine vibration. Wear to the friction material, damaged splines or weakened torsion springs will reduce torque transfer and can cause slipping, judder or noise, so replacement is required as part of a clutch overhaul and the plate must match the flywheel and pressure plate specification for correct engagement and balance.
