Land Rover Part Number: FTC3371 - Taper Roller Bearing - Front Mainshaft - R380
FTC3371 is a taper roller bearing for the front of the mainshaft in the R380 five-speed manual gearbox. Fitted to the R380, it locates and supports the front end of the mainshaft and accepts both radial and axial (thrust) loads during engagement of 5th and reverse gears. Correct bearing condition and installation maintain mainshaft alignment and gear-mesh integrity, reducing premature wear on shafts, bearings and synchro components; the bearing is mounted on the mainshaft race and secured so that preload and endfloat meet gearbox specification. Damaged races or incorrect assembly will cause increased noise and accelerated wear.
