FTC3583 is a 5th gear selector fork for the R380 5-speed manual transmission. Fitted inside the R380 gearbox, the fork transfers lateral movement from the gear selector mechanism to the synchroniser sleeve for fifth gear, locates the synchroniser hub and guides the sliding sleeve onto the gear dog teeth to achieve positive engagement. Selector forks wear at the faces that contact the selector rod and synchroniser sleeve; any deformation, straightness fault or surface damage can prevent smooth engagement, cause selection issues or increase gear noise. During a gearbox inspection or rebuild, check the fork for straightness and wear and replace with the correct part where necessary to restore reliable fifth gear selection in affected vehicles.
