FTC4590 is a selector shaft fitted to the R380 5-speed manual gearbox. This shaft converts movement from the external gear selector into lateral and axial movement of the selector forks, running on splines to carry and align the forks with the dog gears or synchromesh assemblies so a chosen gear can engage. Correct condition of the selector shaft is necessary for accurate gear selection; it is supplied as a replacement where worn splines, scoring or bending require renewal.
