IJL500030 is a high/low selector shaft for the LT230 transfer box, fitted to Puma diesel Land Rover Defender models. The selector shaft transmits the external transfer lever movement into the LT230 transfer box and positions the internal selector forks to engage either high or low range. Manufactured as a turned and machined shaft, it presents splines and locating features that interface with the selector forks and retaining components inside the transfer assembly. Wear, damaged splines or bending will produce excessive freeplay, difficulty selecting ranges or incomplete engagement of low range; replacement restores correct mechanical engagement. When renewing the shaft ensure it aligns correctly with the selector forks and retainers and inspect mating forks and retainers for abnormal wear that should be addressed at the same time.
