JRJ100780 is a receiver dryer assembly for the air conditioning system. Fitted on the high-pressure side after the condenser and located within the condenser and principal components, it removes moisture with a desiccant charge and traps particulate contamination with a filtration element. The unit also provides a small reservoir for liquid refrigerant to help maintain correct flow to the metering device and protects downstream components such as the expansion valve and evaporator. Service practice is to replace the receiver dryer whenever the refrigerant circuit is opened or the desiccant shows signs of contamination or collapse, as failure can allow moisture to cause corrosion and chemical breakdown of the refrigerant and lubricant.
