LHG100580 is a crankshaft torsional vibration damper pulley fitted to the Td5 crankshaft. The damper assembly comprises metal components bonded by a resilient rubber element that absorbs torsional vibration; with age and mileage that rubber can deteriorate, allowing relative movement between the pulley and its hub and causing an initial squeak after shutdown that may progress to a persistent rattle or a knocking noise while the engine is running. A failed damper increases vibration loads on the crankshaft and front-end bearings and can accelerate wear to the front crank oil seal and accessory drive components.
