LPF500020 is an engine oil pump assembly for TD5 2.5L 5-cylinder turbo diesel engines used in Land Rover Defender and Discovery 2 models. The pump draws oil from the sump and delivers pressurised oil into the engine lubrication galleries; internal gears driven by the engine timing mechanism feed the main and big-end bearings, camshaft bearings and the turbocharger lubrication circuit where fitted. The assembly includes a pressure relief valve to limit peak pressure and return excess oil to the sump. Installation requires clean oil passages, correct alignment with the drive interface and use of the specified oil type and fill volume for the vehicle.
