LR001237 is an exhaust valve for the cylinder head of the 2.2 CRDI engine. Fitted into each cylinder's exhaust port, the valve controls the release of spent gases into the exhaust manifold by opening on the exhaust stroke and closing to seal the combustion chamber during the intake and compression strokes. Correct seating of the valve on its valve seat and accurate stem guidance in the valve guide are essential to maintain combustion pressure and control emissions; wear to the valve face or stem can cause loss of compression, rough running, increased fuel consumption and higher exhaust emissions. The valve is machined to match the cylinder head's valve seat profile and works with the valve spring, retainer and tappet within the valvetrain. This exhaust valve is used on Freelander 2 models fitted with the 2.2 CRDI engine and should be matched to the correct cylinder head and valve train parts when replacing.
