What does LR001977 do?

The LR001977 assembly supplies the piston component together with the piston pin and piston rings used in the engine's reciprocating assembly. Under combustion, the piston crown receives gas pressure and converts that energy into linear motion. The piston pin (gudgeon pin) transfers that motion into the small end of the connecting rod, enabling rotational movement at the crankshaft. Piston rings provide the sealing function between piston and cylinder bore, limiting blow-by of combustion gases and metering oil on the cylinder wall to control lubrication and oil consumption.
