LR004868 is an Oil Pump - 2.4 Puma Diesel. Fitted to the 2.4 Puma diesel engine used in Defender vehicles, the pump draws engine oil from the sump and delivers pressurised oil into the engine lubrication galleries to feed the main and big-end bearings, camshaft, timing train and other gallery-fed components; a built-in relief valve limits peak pressure to protect seals and gaskets. Consistent oil flow and pressure from the pump maintain the lubrication film between moving parts and support oil pressure regulation; a worn or failed pump will produce low oil pressure and can cause accelerated bearing and rotating-component wear, usually indicated by low oil pressure readings or a warning on the instrument panel.
