LR015581 is a rear brake caliper housing - right hand. Fitted to the right-hand rear brake assembly, the housing contains the caliper pistons and provides the mounting interface for the brake pads and the hydraulic connection. It locates the piston bores and seals that transmit hydraulic pressure to the pads, and provides the mechanical interface to the brake carrier and, where fitted, handbrake/parking-brake components. The housing must resist the forces generated during braking and is exposed to high temperatures from the brake discs; correct piston-bore condition and mounting-face alignment are critical for even pad wear and consistent braking performance. Replacement housings are used when the original body is damaged, corroded, or when piston-bore wear or distortion prevents reliable sealing. On vehicles with large-diameter V8 rear brakes, the housing also accepts caliper guide surfaces or sliding hardware that control pad retraction and lateral movement.
