LR016631 is an Evaporator Expansion Valve - A/C. Fitted within the heater and air conditioning system, it meters refrigerant into the evaporator core and controls the pressure drop between the high-pressure liquid line and the low-pressure evaporator circuit. By regulating refrigerant flow the valve stabilises evaporator pressure and temperature so the evaporator can absorb heat from cabin air at the correct rate. On applicable Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport and Freelander 2 installations the valve is positioned at the evaporator inlet and interfaces with the vehicle's refrigerant piping and evaporator assembly; failure or sticking can cause reduced cooling, abnormal evaporator frosting or fluctuating system pressures.
