LR022304 is a Cylinder Head Front Cover. Fitted to the cylinder head, the cover locates the camshaft housings and seals the valve-train area on 2.2L diesel engines. The LR022304 protects the upper engine components around the camshafts and valve train, forming a pressure-tight seal with the cylinder head to create the enclosed space required for camshaft lubrication and oil control while keeping contaminants out. The component mounts to the top of the cylinder head with a series of fasteners and seals against the head face with a gasket; damaged covers or degraded sealing faces can produce oil leaks and allow ingress of dirt, which affects valve-train operation and oil pressure at the camshaft bearings. Inspect the cover for cracks, warpage or worn sealing surfaces when replacing gaskets or servicing the top-end.
