LR030762 is an intercooler for the turbocharged 2.2L diesel engine fitted to Freelander 2. Fitted in the engine air intake path, it cools compressed intake air from the turbocharger before that air reaches the intake manifold, reducing charge temperature to increase air density and support consistent engine performance under boost. The core and end tanks route charged air through fins and tubes to shed heat to ambient airflow; the unit interfaces with charge hoses and the turbo outlet and must be correctly connected to maintain pressure and minimise leaks. Replace the intercooler if fins are bent, end tanks are cracked, blockages are present or hose connections are compromised, as these defects will alter boost behaviour and intake air temperature.
