LR031668 is a right-hand rear shock absorber fitted into the rear springs and shock absorbers assembly on Freelander 2 models. It damps vertical motion by controlling spring oscillation during compression and rebound, with internal valving converting kinetic energy into heat in the damper fluid to control rebound and compression rates so tyre contact and vehicle stability are maintained. Wear or fluid leakage reduces damping efficiency and increases body movement and suspension travel, which can affect ride stability and handling; when replacing a rear unit, fit the matching left-hand part (LR031666) to restore balanced rear suspension behaviour.
Please note: Replace rear shock absorbers in pairs and replace the spring isolator seals at the same time, as the seals are often too worn to refit.
