LR031744 is a Steering Gear - Power Steering Rack. Fitted for left-hand drive vehicles, the rack converts rotational input from the steering column into the lateral movement of the track rods to steer the front wheels. The input shaft drives an internal pinion which acts on the rack to centralise steering geometry and transmit steering forces from the column to the front suspension steering arms. Replacement is typically required when internal wear, seal failure or excessive play causes steering wander, fluid leaks or uneven response; installation requires correct coupling to the steering column, tie rod ends and a full steering alignment.
