Land Rover Part Number: LR044563 - Left-Hand Secondary Turbocharger
LR044563 is a left-hand secondary turbocharger that fits the exhaust side of 4.4 V8 diesel biturbo engines. Fitted as the secondary unit in the twin-turbo arrangement, it converts exhaust gas energy to drive a compressor wheel that raises intake air pressure and works with the primary turbo to broaden torque and power across the rev range. The unit mounts to the exhaust manifold and connects into the charge-air plumbing; internal bearings and seals support the high-speed shaft while containing oil and exhaust gases. Service or replacement is normally required when there is shaft play, bearing failure, oil ingress to the intake, or damaged compressor/turbine blades. The left-hand designation refers to the secondary turbo when viewed from the rear of the vehicle and ensures correct installation relative to the exhaust manifold and charge-air plumbing.
Please note: The connection between the left-hand turbo and the exhaust manifold does not require a gasket.
