LR061253 is a front brake caliper assembly supplied without brake pads. Fitted to Defender models with ventilated front discs, the caliper receives hydraulic pressure from the braking circuit and transfers that pressure via piston(s) to the brake pads (not included), which then bear against the disc to provide braking force. The assembly includes the caliper body, piston bore(s) and the mounting interfaces that locate the unit to the stub axle or carrier; pad retaining hardware and the pads themselves are not included. Replacement calipers are used when corrosion, piston seizure or damage prevents reliable operation of the original unit.
