LR087162 is a drive chain tensioner used on AJ133 5.0 V8 engines. Fitted to the timing gear auxiliary drive, it maintains correct tension on the auxiliary drive chain by pressing against the chain guide or rail to take up slack and reduce chain vibration, ensuring correct operation of the auxiliary timing components. Wear of the internal spring, piston or sliding faces can allow excess chain play which commonly presents as a rattle from the front of the engine and can increase wear on guides, sprockets and the chain itself; where chain noise or timing gear wear is diagnosed replacement of the tensioner is a standard repair and adjacent components should be inspected for wear or damage.
