LR097165 is a water pump fitted to selected 3.0L DOHC GDI SC V6 and 5.0L AJ133 supercharged V8 petrol engines. The unit circulates coolant through the engine block, cylinder head and radiator via an impeller driven by the engine accessory drive to help control operating temperature under normal driving and load conditions. Correct coolant flow prevents localised overheating and works with the thermostat and radiator to regulate engine temperature. Replacement is normally required if the pump bearing or seal fails, or if coolant is visible around the pump housing; during removal and refit observe manufacturer guidance for coolant drainage and refilling and use the correct coolant specification.
