LR116599 is an EGR solenoid fitted to the engine vacuum control assembly on 3.0 V6 diesel engines. It regulates vacuum to the exhaust gas recirculation and air injection control circuits, modulating delivery to downstream valves and actuators so exhaust gases can be redirected into the inlet tract under controlled conditions. The unit is an electrically controlled switching device that opens or closes vacuum paths in response to engine management signals; replacement restores correct vacuum switching where the original unit has failed or become unreliable.
