LR139320 is a timing chain for 2.0 L Ingenium diesel engines. Fitted to the front of the engine, the chain transmits rotational movement from the crankshaft to the camshafts to ensure valve opening and closing are synchronised with piston position. The chain works together with tensioners and guides to maintain correct chain tension and accurate valve timing; if the chain, tensioners or guides wear, this can produce noise from the front of the engine and allow timing deviation. Replacement intervals vary with use and operating conditions, so when the chain is replaced it is common practice to inspect and, where necessary, replace related tensioning components to restore correct timing operation.
