MUC8741 is a left-hand lower tailboard hinge that secures the lower left edge of the drop-down tailboard to the vehicle body. Fitted as the lower tailgate hinge on Defender models, this hinge provides the fixed mounting point required for the tailboard to close and to pivot downwards when in use. Please note: the right-hand hinge has a longer pin with a hole for a split pin while the left-hand hinge has a shorter pin with no hole; use the compatibility data below to confirm fitment against your V.I.N.
The hinge pin and bushes take both lateral and vertical loads from the tailboard and from items placed on it, so wear in the pin bore or bushes will produce play, uneven closing or a sagging tailboard.
