MWC1476 is a right-hand front door lock and latch assembly. Fitted to Defender front doors, this complete unit receives the door striker and retains the door under load using an internal catch and pawl arrangement, allowing the door to remain closed under driving forces. Operation of the external or internal handle actuates linkages that withdraw the latch to open the door, and the assembly accepts input from a lock cylinder or central locking linkage to prevent release when locked. Correct engagement with the door striker and secure mounting to the door inner panel are required for reliable closure, door alignment and correct operation of central locking where fitted. Replacement of the latch assembly restores door security and correct release function when wear, damage or corrosion prevents normal operation.
