NTC4991 is a brake master cylinder fitted to non-ABS systems. Fitted to the vehicle's brake pedal linkage, it converts pedal input into hydraulic pressure for the braking circuits; the unit contains the piston assembly and ports for connection to the brake fluid reservoir and brake lines. On vehicles without an anti-lock braking modulator, the master cylinder supplies direct hydraulic pressure to the wheel cylinders or calipers in proportion to pedal travel.
