Launched in 1994 the 24 year old Range Rover Classic was finally replaced with the Range Rover P38. Using the same ladder-frame chassis the body shape was rounded off and much improved safety features added. Meanwhile the dashboard and interior took a huge leap over and above the original in design and build quality.
Engines took a signifcant step forwards too, with an all new 2.5 Diesel engine sourced from BMW and a new 4.6 V8 option. The P38 proved challenging to maintain initially with issues like leaking or failing air suspension pumps cropping up but now all its quirks have been identified and rectified this 2nd generation of Range Rover is a solid yet refined workhorse.
