PGG500340 is a Cooling Fan Assembly fitted to the radiator on Td5 engines; the fan is supplied with the viscous unit attached. The assembly draws air through the radiator to remove engine heat during normal driving and at idle. The viscous unit provides temperature-sensitive engagement, increasing drive to the fan as coolant temperature or engine load rises and allowing partial disengagement when cooling demand falls to reduce engine load. The assembly mounts to the radiator and interfaces with the viscous coupling and drive pulley; damaged blades, seized bearings or a failed viscous unit will affect cooling performance and require replacement of the assembly.
