PRF100050L is a Timing Chain Guide - Lower fitted to the lower timing gear of the M57 D30 3.0 Diesel engine. The guide indexes the lower timing chain route and provides a low-friction contact surface where the chain runs, stabilising the chain against the tensioner and guide rails and resisting lateral movement and wear; excessive wear, cracking or deformation can permit chain misalignment, increasing wear on sprockets and the tensioner and producing audible noise from the timing drive.
