Land Rover Part Number: RFD100000 - Staked Wheel Hub Lock Nut
RFD100000 is a staked wheel hub lock nut used to retain the hub bearing on Defender front and rear hubs. The nut has a thin top section which is deformed (staked) with a hammer and punch after the final torque is applied to lock the nut in place and prevent it from loosening in service.
Please note: Staked type with a thin top section that must be deformed by hammer and punch after the nut is torqued; axle codes 10M to 17M. Some early models used two of part number FRC8700 instead of this lock nut.

Frequently Asked Questions
RFD100000 secures the hub assembly by retaining the hub bearing on Defender front and rear hubs. Once torqued to the required specification, the nut's thin top is staked over with a hammer and punch to prevent it from backing off during operation; axle codes 10M to 17M use this staked type, while some earlier vehicles used two FRC8700 nuts instead.

Replace the nut whenever it is damaged, when the staking has been disturbed or removed, or when fitting a new hub or bearing; the nut is a staked type and must be re-staked after installation, so replacement is standard practice during hub/bearing renewal.
