Land Rover Part Number: RTC1799 - Power-Assisted Steering Tie Rod Assembly
RTC1799 is a Power-Assisted Steering Tie Rod Assembly. Fitted to the front steering of Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic, the assembly includes tie rod ends and an adjuster. It transmits steering input from the steering rack to the steering knuckles via the tie rod ends, converting rotational movement into the lateral motion that turns the wheels. The integral adjuster provides threaded length adjustment to set or correct toe alignment during setup and maintenance, and the fitted tie rod ends act as the articulating joints between the steering linkage and the steering arm. Where wear, play or damage is present in the outer joints or threads, replacement of the full assembly restores correct steering connection and alignment capability. Replacement track rod end part numbers are RTC5869 for a right-hand thread and RTC5870 for a left-hand thread.
