RTC3690 is a front halfshaft universal joint fitted to the front driveshaft assembly on Land Rover Series vehicles. It transfers drive torque along the front halfshaft while accommodating angular misalignment so steering and suspension movement can occur without interrupting torque transfer. The joint uses an internal cross and bearing-cap arrangement to allow limited angular movement; bearing wear, grease loss or corrosion will increase play and can produce vibration, noise or uneven drive. Replacing a worn or damaged joint restores correct mechanical coupling in the front halfshaft and helps prevent accelerated wear to adjacent driveline components.
