Land Rover Part Number: RTC5049 - Starter Motor Solenoid for M78R
RTC5049 is a starter motor solenoid designed specifically for M78R starter motors. Fitted into the petrol engine starting system where the M78R unit is used, this solenoid completes the high-current circuit to the starter motor and provides the mechanical movement to engage the starter pinion with the engine flywheel. It interfaces directly with the starter assembly and vehicle electrical system, carrying starter current and operating the pinion engagement mechanism. Replacement is required where the solenoid fails to operate or where internal contacts have worn, preventing reliable starter activation.
