RTC5685 is an alternator fan fitted to the alternator on Land Rover Defender models (1987-2006, L315). It is used on 2.5L 4-cylinder petrol and diesel variants (including turbo) specified for vehicles without air conditioning, and on the 3.5L V8 twin-carb petrol. The fan assists cooling by drawing air across the alternator housing to help dissipate heat during operation.
