Land Rover Part Number: RTC5687 - Drive-End Bracket with Bearing for A127 Alternator
RTC5687 is a drive-end bracket with bearing for the A127 alternator. This right-hand bracket locates and supports the drive-end bearing and mounts the A127 alternator to the front of the engine. The bearing is pressed into the bracket as part of the assembly; the unit locates the alternator shaft, transfers radial loads to the engine front and maintains alignment with the engine-driven pulley system, which reduces belt wear and helps prevent noise or premature bearing failure. The assembly is used with A127-type alternators fitted to a range of 2.5-litre and 3.5-litre V8 engines; the right-hand designation refers to the drive end when the alternator is installed and must match the alternator orientation for correct fitment.

Frequently Asked Questions
The RTC5687 secures and locates the drive-end bearing of an A127 alternator and mounts the alternator to the engine front. With the bearing pressed into the bracket, it keeps the rotor shaft correctly aligned and transfers radial loads to the engine front, helping to reduce belt wear and prevent premature bearing failure or noise. The right-hand orientation must match the alternator when fitting.

Inspect the bracket-and-bearing assembly whenever the alternator is serviced; replace it if the bearing shows noise, radial or axial play, visible wear, or if misalignment is causing belt issues. Replacement is commonly carried out as the complete bracket-and-bearing unit.
