RTC5870 is a left-hand tie rod end (ball joint) fitted to the steering rack. It links the rack to the track rod and provides the steering pivot at the front wheel. The part uses a left-hand thread - tighten by turning anticlockwise - so take care when adjusting during wheel alignment or when replacing the outer track rod end. The matching right-hand tie rod end is RTC5869. This ball joint is used on older Land Rover steering racks fitted to Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic models and is a primary steering linkage component when setting toe alignment or renewing worn steering joints.
