SPB000160 is a handbrake cable assembly that links the handbrake lever to the rear parking-brake mechanism within the vehicle braking system on Defender models. The assembly comprises an inner steel cable running inside an outer housing with end terminals and attachment points that locate to the handbrake lever, equaliser and rear brake fittings. Over time the inner cable can stretch, fray or seize within the housing, which reduces parking-brake performance; replacement restores correct handbrake travel and allows the built-in adjuster or equaliser to maintain the preset range of adjustment.
