SSW500050 is a front wheel speed sensor for the Td5. Fitted to the front hubs of Defender Td5 models, the sensor monitors wheel rotational speed and provides the antilock braking system (ABS) with the input it needs to control braking and traction interventions.
Please note: The sensor for earlier models from VIN XA159807 to VIN 5A683617 is part number SSW100050.

The SSW500050 front wheel speed sensor detects wheel rotation and sends a signal to the ABS and traction control ECU so they can modulate braking and prevent wheel lock. Failure commonly shows as an ABS warning light and can be caused by a damaged sensor tip, contaminated or corroded mounting face, or wiring/connector faults. When fitting, ensure the mounting face and tone wheel are clean and the connector is fully seated to avoid intermittent operation.
